The Shearwater Cove Experience
getting here is an adventure
There are no roads to Shearwater Cove. Our location in Resurrection Bay is only accessible by boat, and we think this voyage provides the perfect transition to a unique chapter in your Alaskan adventure.
Every stay begins with a boat tour departing from the Seward Harbor. You’ll meet our captain on the dock, load your belongings onto our boat, and set off for Shearwater Cove. More than a shuttle, the ~45 minute boat tour in Resurrection Bay is a great opportunity to look for wildlife, marvel at the dramatic scenery, and disconnect from the bustle of town.
more than a place to sleep
Upon arrival at Shearwater Cove our host will greet you, show you to your yurt, and familiarize you with the many amenities of the property. The private decks of each yurt and the community waterfront pavilion welcome you to relax and reset. And when you’re feeling ready for an adventure, there are ample opportunities to explore the area by kayak and on foot.
Included: Sea kayaking & Hiking
Sea Kayaking is an activity we are thrilled to offer. Many people travel to Alaska’s Kenai Fjords specifically for the experience of sea kayaking, and our location offers both protected coves to paddle and wild beaches to wander. Unlimited use of sea kayaks for self-guided exploration is included with every stay. We also offer guided kayaking sessions if you’d like some extra support on the water or are curious to learn more about the natural and cultural history of the area from your host.
Back on shore, we have developed a small network of trails to explore on foot, right from your yurt. With mossy forest walks to a waterfall, a path to a rocky beach with tidepooling, and a trail up to an alpine meadow with sweeping ocean views - there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The hardest part is figuring out what to do first!
Making the most of your stay
Want to see it all, and have time to relax? We recommend staying at Shearwater Cove for more than one night. But you don’t have to take our word for it - many of our guest suggest staying for multiple nights in their reviews!
There are many opportunities for adventure at Shearwater Cove, and we’re also able to offer unique tour options by partnering with local companies. You can continue to enjoy our luxurious yurt accommodations by planning excursions that depart right from our dock. Do you want to see tidewater glaciers on a small-boat tour of Kenai Fjords National Park? Would you like to book a guided kayaking session, or arrange a special evening cruise? We can help make it happen. Expand your experience with our add-on offerings that are fully customizable and best paired with a multi-night stay.
