the adventure begins!
On the morning of check-in, guests meet our boat in the Seward Small Boat Harbor. On the way to the Cove, we often see many species of wildlife and incredible scenery that is sure to impress. We follow the eastern side of Resurrection Bay where it is common to see humpback and orca whales, Dall’s porpoise, Steller sea lions, harbor seals, bald eagles, sea and river otters, mountain goats, the occasional black bear, and a very long list of bird species.
Arrival at Shearwater Cove
As we approach the Cove we will pause to acquaint you with the local geography and the best kayaking destinations. We will inform you about the current weather and tides that may affect kayaking, and reveal the best locations to spot wildlife. Our tour concludes at the Cove where you will be introduced to our onsite host who will provide an orientation to your yurt and the kayaks. On the boat ride back to Seward, you still have a second chance to see any sights you may have missed on the way in!
